Continuing with our phone theme, we were amused and a little peckish to hear that Google had named the latest version of its Android mobile operating system after the KitKat chocolate bar. A giant Android figure made from KitKats has now joined the rest of the confectionary gang outside Google’s California headquarters – now that’s a sight to see!

This week I stumbled across an article on
Mugi Yamamoto’s latest creation – Stack. If you’re a fan of modern and fresh looking office machinery, then check out the genius compact printer that swallows a stack of paper.

On more of a 80’s note – Have you ever thought about teaching your kids about coding? Well, soon you’ll be able to – CEO of Google Comparison Dan Shapiro has designed board game
‘Robot Turtles’ to pass on the superpower knowledge of core coding principles. Now that would be a good game to play with the family!

To end this post, Google celebrated their 15th birthday on Wednesday – happy birthday! We enjoyed reading Tom Meltzer’s
’15 things you didn’t know’ over at the Guardian. Who knew that founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin own just 16% of the company, but have a net worth of $ 46bn!

See you all next week!

The first one is Pocket – it’s basically a bookmark/folder that’s integrated with 300 apps. If you find content you like for example JAY Z ft Justin Timberlake’s Holy Grail music video, just click, save for later, then you can view it when you’re ready – no need for an internet connection.

Have you all met Alfred? Well, Alfred is one of Alex’s (one of our developers) top picks. The app is a newbie for me, but after having a tour of what the app has to offer – it’s clear why he likes it. No need to waste time searching for files – it provides you with hotkeys, keywords and file actions right at your fingertips!

A story that caught our attention was the “Not Provided” stunt by Powerhouse Fitness. where they welcome “Protein 100% not provided.” In their words -
“We thought we would put together this exclusive offer just for them (Google.) We have created a (not provided) style product that will help you (not provided) for longer by enhancing your (not provided) function.” Great job guys! For more serious coverage of the Google secure search story, check out our post Hey Google, why did you turn the lights out?

See you next week!

Unfortunately, I was unable to make Brighton SEO, but I did manage to catch the buzz on Twitter and enjoy the highlights and takeaways via MintTwist’s write up. Congratulations to Brighton SEO for pulling off a brilliant event and selling out in the record time of 20 minutes!

If you live in the US or Canada, and have an old iPad only “gently used,” Microsoft will now let you trade it in for one of their Surface tablets and throw in a $ 200 gift certificate. I wonder if that’s connected to the low sales figures for the Surface devices?

Orèe’s wireless power pebble. caught my attention, it also reminded me of those home pebble air fresheners. Not sure on the smell, but it can charge any smartphone or table and it’s modern, sleek appearance can be found in maple or walnut!

Bing are introducing their new look, adding a stylish ‘b’ symbol and making a switch to Microsoft’s Segoe font in their new logo. It’s definitely working a strong connection with the Microsoft brand now – will the visual link help Bing out?

Did you know that bitly can see how many people have clicked or shared your link? If not, take a look at the Mashable’s article on the 7 things you didn’t know about bitly.

We’ve previously mentioned our love for Evernote, but now I can say I’m a massive fan of Skitch! their tagline is ‘more ways than ever to clearly communicate your ideas’ – it’s exactly that! An easy way to edit, crop and express ideas! Since Mal introduced it to me, it’s used and loved on a daily basis in the office!
